Thank you Jonathan for whatever that was...

As some of you might not know, for the first time in my life, on a recent trip to the BVI's, I decided to keep a travel journal. As promised, I said I would transcribe the pages there from and share it with all (three or four) of our readers....
The hand writing got a little sloppy along the way, and certain pages are scrawled about with nothing but gibberish and rum stains, but I will do my best to translate word for word the indescribable joys of my adventure.

"The Ships Log" As told by Pelican Pete On board the "S.S. Life of Reilly, Too" (previously known as the "S.S. Pocket Rocket"...Yes I am serious.)

-Four a.m. wake up, still hungry from not getting around to eating dinner last night, but the beers I shared late night with Chuck seemed to tide me over. After a blur of take off, landing, and dunkin donuts, we hunker down in a Newark food court, surrounded by large scale plastic renditions of french fries and burgers. We have two hours to kill...then San Juan bound...
Newark to San Juan, San Juan to St. Tomas on a Twin engine Cessna (a plane roughly the size of a toyota corolla).

*side note* Everyone is excited, but also a bit nervous, more than anything I cannot wait to get into sun and crystal blue water. The entire crew should regroup at the ferry landing on St. Tomas if everything goes according to plan...There we will wait for our ferry over boat drinks.

-Not even at my destination and the wierdness has already started. On the flight from Newark, an old hippy lady sat next to me. What started as casual conversation turned into her reading my palm, telling me my fortune, and giving me a spirit drawing. She then presented it to me and analyzed it. Bizzare. I have it with me now in my pack.

-Seeing Puerto Rico on the horizon was the most welcome sight I've seen in months.

-Upon our arrival at the airport, i immediately purchased two bottles of rum and sought out a small cafe to wait for our connection. The cafe is having a bit of a happy hour and after a slight miscommunication I recalled what little Spanish I could and got us two caiperenias(sp?) and two beers for six bucks. We may be here a while. After getting a solid buzz going, we stumble down to our "gate" with only the packs on our backs and two bottles of Bacardi. The gate is nothing more than a small waiting area, and the woman behind the desk hands us two hand written tickets and essentially tells chuck and I that we can just get on whatever plane, whenever. Since Chuck and I total about 400 pounds with our luggage, we had to wait for a plane without many people as they have to balance the weight out. We finally were called, stepped out onto the tarmac and into our Cessna. The plane was no bigger inside than an SUV, and we flew only a few hundred feet over the breaking waves and reef bars all the way to St. Thomas.

-I've arrived! I am sitting at the ferry bar in St. Tomas with an ice cold Carib. Chuck and I eagerly await the rest of the crew. They should be here shortly.
-The crew is assembled with the exception of two that are already at the boat. The other six of us find a cantina not far from the ferry landing and trade off buying rounds of beers. The table we are sitting at is split in the middle where a giant palm grows through it. Our ferry tonight will take us to road town harbor where our boat is docked. We sit around the table drinking and smoking cigars. Tomorrow we will have to provision and collect thing like water and food. My mind is trailing off right now....probably becasue I am sitting here in shorts and flip flops drinking and ice cold presidente...more tomorrow.....

Habit Attack!

What. Up.

So, here I sit in Emerson's Library. I have spent the better part of the last 6 hours writing a paper on the Toyota recall and feel that my brain is slowly melting....

I did however discover the coolest new band and song.... Band: The XX and Song: "intro" trust me, listen to it. It has this spooky hollow inspirational sound to it.

So, as i finish my paper and tire of listening to that song for the 100th time I guess I was hoping to be hit with some sort of inspiration or an electrical charge of some sort to motivate me to walk down stairs and hit up the GYM. Possibly a female co-ed dressed in gym attire looking for a stretching partner.... that would sure do the trick.... hell, i would be sprinting down there....

but, alas...... nothing (no real shocker there)

then, all of a sudden my computer made that awesome MAC sound that tells you someone loves you (usually its Rugby telling me about a lovely sale or Capital One telling me about a lovely bill I owe, but whatever, I'll take what I can get) but no, this was an e-mail from a human! and it reads:

"The other day I was walking through South Boston and stopped in at one of my fav. boutique clothing stores in the area...I bought a shirt there with a motorcycle on it, and realized it was by J.Newbury...something clicked, and I recognized the name, realizing it was your brand! Congrats on such a cool concept, and thanks for the great shirt! See you around beantown."

AMAZING! A long-time friend sees a cool shirt in Habit South Boston and buys it, only later to discover that this cool new J. Newbury tee she just got is from a long time friend she knows company. If that isn't inspiration, I don't know what is.....

Fear not world..... Peter J. and I are currently working diligently on J. Newbury's summer line... it is going to be stupid cool and blow peoples minds away! (no pressure on us)

Energy restored..... off to gym!

I'm back...

Hello out there. I'm Back.

As many of you may have read (assuming that anyone actually reads this garbage) I have just returned from a sailing trip around the BVI's...
Trying to explain to someone what this trip was like would be an exercise in futility, but non the less, I plan to have a full recap (including photo's and excerpts from the ships log and my personal journal) in the days to follow.

In the meantime, I will be trying to regain my land legs...and desperately attempting to preserve my perpetually fading tan.

Stay tuned...More to follow...

I can blog from my iPhone!

What. Up!

I just spent $3 dollars so that I can blog from my iphone.....

Wait for it..... Legandary! I am going to officially own this blog now.... It has no idea what just happened....

First I'd like to thank CVS Minute Clinic for making this happen, had you not made me wait 90 MINUTES I might not have reached the point of boardom that I'm currently at where I start searching for random apps on my phone....

I thought the idea was each person got 1 minute.... Hell I know thats impossible... So I'll give you 10 min, but after that, go to a Hospital man!

Oh thank god! They called my name.....

Whoops.....

Oh, Hello there.....

Yes I am in-fact alive and I realize when I left you last I was bragging about how awesome this week was going to be with pete gone and all the cool things I could say.....

Whoops, I guess that didn't happen. Basically my excuse is I felt jealous of peter on his awesome vacation sailing the royal blue waters of the virgin islands so I decided to get super sick, and have my own vacation in my bed.... trust me, for part of the week, I thought I was in the Virgin Islands....

You may ask yourself: Self, if he was so sick and in bed all week, wouldn't that be the perfect thing to happen to a blogger..... what else do you have to do but lay in your bed and blog .....

well, whatever, bye

Snow Day

What. Up.

First off, can I say that I think I have made the wrong decision in life of what to be when I grow up..... why would I want to be anything else other than a weather man. Tell me, what job is there that you can be wrong MORE than 50% of the time and still keep your job? Oh, thats right, A WEATHERMAN! Yes its fun to get out of work early every once in a blue moon, or get a snow day from school, but the real problem is the economic impact of these warnings. Last night Boston was a ghost town. Shops and restaurants all closed. These small business all lost tons of potential sales and there was basically no reason for it. Here at J. Newbury we strong support small businesses!

Was it a lot safer for the workers......... yes, and had it been as bad as they thought......yes it would have been the right call, and I guess its still better to be safe than sorry, but still! These guys never get it right.

Yes, they knew D.C. was getting hit hard, thats because all they had to do was watch the news crews get blown over........

Anyway, as some of you may know, Peter J. boarded a plane to the British Virgin Islands today at 4am for week vacation sailing around the islands on a charted Catamaran. Now don't get to jealous just yet, there is no plumbing on this boat, meaning poor peter will have to use the ocean for everything.... (thats right, not just peeing).....so, beware of where your bottled water is from this week.....

So, I'm in charge of the blog for the whole week!!! WHOO HOO! I can do and say whatever the hell I want and I dont have to listen to pete tell me how............ AMAZING my posts are, trust me he said this! So HA! What. up. fist pump....
(Fact: with Peter J. not blogging, viewership will decrease 75%, while readership will decrease 96%, Thanks mom for still reading)

Super Bowl recap

What. Up.

4 out of 22 right.... horrid

however I did guess Kim Kardashian's shirts color right, so I guess its not a total lost.

I did think the Super Bowl was great and I could not have been more pleased with a Saints victory. It brought tears of joy to my eyes to see Peyton Manning lose. The Colts got by on one of the easiest NFL schedules this year and with all the hate Tom Brady gets and all love Manning gets, maybe, just maybe his performance here in the super bowl will put the argument of who is better to rest. If it had not been for that miracle catch by David Tyree a few years ago, we would not even be having this discussion, but after this super bowl, I think the answer is clear, Peyton Manning isn't even better than Drew Brees.....

The half time show stunk. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE fan of The Who and love their music, I thought the stage and visuals were amazing, its just I was worried that Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend were not going to live through the whole performance, and not one single guitar smashed!!!....sad really. At least they got it right with Carrie Underwood....she looked amazing!

So, what about the Super Bowl ads you ask..... In general, they sucked... in my opinion, here are the top 3....

ok, I'm off to work..... I have some gambling debt to pay off.....

J. Newbury enters Southie

What. up.

Let me set the scene. Here I sit, by my fire place on a big fluffy rug, watching the snow slowly fall to the ground. (no I do not live on a porno set)... Its so peaceful and warm right here and I'm listening to this new song by Jason Derulo, In My Head (I will admit I said this guy was a one hit wonder hack... I'm now 0-2 on these type of calls, the other was saying Avatar would never work in 3-D, wow I suck) anyway, its a catchy song....

"Just stay with me now. Say the word and well go."

I like it.

So, today I spent about 3 hours making my to-do list. Things to do for Grad School (Emerson), Business (J. Newbury), and Life, ..... my head hurts... and then I fell asleep for a few hours on this very rug..... woke up and had no motivation beyond writing this post.....

Queue the power on my laptop dying, too lazy to grab my power cord, and then getting hungary for the 100th time today, I decided to hit up the "new to me" Legacy Place in Dedham and try the recently opened Legal C Bar (its legal sea foods, just with a new hip? name i guess), regardless of the name, it was freaking delicious! After dinner I saw The Hurt Locker.... very good!

After the movie, I broke out my computer to finish this post, I had one thing I wanted to talk about and had it drafted in my mind....... only to fall asleep.......

So, good morning! To give our readers an update, J. Newbury is very excited to announce that our tee's are now available at Habit Boutique in South Boston, located right on Broadway St. across from the Beer Garden! Check out Habit's facebook fan page and Twitter (@Habitshop) and if your in the area, please stop in and check out our tees! You can see there web-site here... Habit Shop

well, this post took me 13 hours to write and I didn't even really talk about anything..... time for a break, I have to get ready for the Super Bowl! ...... here comes my 3rd call...... Saints over Colts. I'll be back in a bit with my score prediction....

In 9 days 7 friends and I will be basking in the glory of the British Virgin Islands. Realizing that we could not enter Foxy's, Soggy Dollar or the Bomba Shack without sweet tees...Something had to be done. Here is the result. I was thinking about getting them printed on something light and summery, powder blue perhaps(?)

Contact J. Newbury and order custom tees for your next trip, company picnic, or family outing...Want jerseys for your spring/summer softball league(?), no problem. Help me out here, I have severe gambling debts.

The All American Ciroc Star

What. Up.

Ah, Monday, back to the grind that is the work week. Peter J.'s post basically sums up much of my weekend. However I think it should be noted that after much drinking, dancing, and fist pumping on friday night, leaving the club I was challenged at 3am to a game of Tiger Woods. Now, possibly some of you are thinking that I'm attempting to make an inside joke or infer that my evening was "tiger-esque," unfortunately if you know me, you know that I am sadly referring to the XBox 360 virtual golf game. Yes, my friday night ended with a game of Tiger Golf...... legit awesome!

My buddy challenged me to 18 holes on my custom J. Newbury course (obv. the most awesome and challenging course ever created). Due to the time, and state of mind, we decided on $1 a stroke. After 8 holes and being down 10 stokes, my buddy threw in the proverbial towel as well as $10 dollars and that is how Friday night ended....

So, no comments on the Blog? really? Is this a joke? Where are my haters at? I guess its time to step up our game, I mean I know its a recession and all so fan's are probably at a premium right now, but haters are constant.... Lets get some comments going!

So, there are a few things I want to mention today to kick off this week right:
First, our Picture of the Day has MASSIVE potential for Picture of the Year honors.... and we are only a month into 2010..... its that good! Thank you to a true american hero, our boy Kenny P. rocking his J. Newbury Tee while serving in the US Navy. Kenny rocks the flag of freedom proudly and we are honored to have him as a representative of this great nation! Be safe and keep the pics coming!

Second, J. Newbury would like to give a shout out to our good friends Chester French! If you don't know know Chester French, you can get up to speed here at Chester French but they just released their new music video "Ciroc Star" and its amazing! Its basically like a mimi Hangover movie... like, CirocOver Part II. Trust me, it's a sweet song and video.
Watch it here: "Ciroc Star"

Third, I'm about as big a movie fan as you can get. Part of my crazy obsession is that I literally watch 1000's of movie trailers a year, its a problem. Legit, if I go see a new movie and during the previews, there is a trailer I have not seen already, I actually get upset. It's sick, i know. Anyway, one of my favorite movies off all time (Wall Street) is getting a sequel! Yes, Darth Vader is the greatest villain of all time (this is fact people), but Gordon Gekko has got to be top 10! With Oliver Stone returning to direct (so what if hes crazy now) and Michael Douglas back as the infamous Gordon Gekko, then add in Shia LeBeouf as the young gun stock trader and Josh Brolin as his established boss and I think this has the makings for a relevant and hopefully good sequel! Most times sequels are worse and they almost never work when attempting to make one for a movie that came out over 20 years ago (look at what happened to Indian Jones and The Temple of the Crystal Skull, that movie was terrible!) but in this case..... I think "Greed is Good"

Have a great Monday world.....

-J.
